DOH!!!...

Sometimes I’m an idiot...a really big idiot. Recently I stumbled over a craft blog called Back Tack and from there several talented blogs many of which had a link to something called Secret Pal 5 or SP5. Basically you send three gifts to the person you are matched up with over a three month period. About the same time I found it SP5 send up a call for Angels - people to send gifts to those whose pal had disappeared somewhere in the ether, and I fired off an email requesting to assist. I figured that I could make something, reduce my fabric stash, and meet someone interesting - great! I picked out a likely person and sent a little note promising a package at a later date. About that same time I read ALL of the instructions for SP5 and discovered that is was a group of knitters - doh! I don’t know the first thing about knitting, hell I barely know where the yarn is in the craft store, in fact Emma Lou’s (yesterday’s post) hair is probably the only yarn I’ve touched in thirty years. So I gathered up the little group of things you see in the picture*. The knitting needles I selected because they are bamboo and feel satiny smooth, that’s a good enough reason, right?. The earring looking things are supposed to be stitch markers...I have no idea if they will even work, but they were a fun way to lighten my 8lb bead box. The person they are going to is in her teens, and I am about as out of touch with that age as I am knitting so I’ll have to let you know how well they are received. Still, it was fun and challenging to come up with this little package...and I met Rox (SP5's organizer) whom I like quite a bit...even if I often haven’t a clue what she’s talking about (knitting).

*I’m supposed to stay anonymous, but I think its safe to post this here because my blog does not appear on SP5 - Rox will let me know if I’m wrong; so if this post disappears you’ll know why.

You are sooo not an idiot.

I love how you leave out the part about your generosity and kindness in sending wonderful gifties to a complete stranger.

Lemme just tell your readers.... Shannon completely made my day.

When I was thisclose to doing bodily harm to a few less-than-stellar participants, Shannon emailed me asking if she could help out. Totally made my day.

She's da bomb.

Yeah, I said it. ;)

And those stitch markers are gorgeous and perfect. You should try selling them on Ebay - really.

TTYS!

Hey look, it's my present! Yay! :)

The needles being satiny smooth is definitely a good enough reason to pick them out. I mean, that's how I pick out yarn, after all. And the stitch markers are so beautiful! I think I'm going to have to start another hat soon so I can try them out. Anyway, yes. Definitely very well recieved. :) I was a little confused when you said that you weren't a knitter, but I see how it happened now. And I'm very impressed.

Ya done good!
